2025年5月、鎌倉を訪れました。I visited Kamakura (about one hour by train from Tokyo) in May, 2025.
建長寺 Kencho-ji Temple
建長寺は、1253年（建長5年）に鎌倉幕府第5代執権・北条時頼によって創建された禅寺です。開山（初代住職）は、南宋の蘭渓道隆（らんけいどうりゅう）です。
Kenchō-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple founded in 1253 (the 5th year of the Kenchō era) by Hōjō Tokiyori, the fifth regent of the Kamakura shogunate. The founding abbot was Rankei Dōryū, a monk from the Southern Song Dynasty in China.

総門 So-mon
三門 San-mon
江戸時代に再建された国重要文化財。「三解脱（げだつ）門の略。空・無相・無作（むさ）を表し、この三門をくぐることによってあらゆる執着から解き放たれることを意味します」と書かれていました。くぐって執着から解き放たれましょう！
Reconstructed during the Edo period, this gate is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. A sign explains: “San-mon is short for ‘San-gedatsu-mon,’ or the Gate of Three Liberations, symbolizing Emptiness, Formlessness, and Wishlessness. Passing through this gate signifies liberation from all worldly attachments.”

国宝 梵鐘 Bon-sho (Temple Bell)
1255（建長7年）に鋳造されたもの。
This temple bell was cast in 1255 (the 7th year of the Kenchō era). It is designated as a National Treasure of Japan.
方丈 Hōjō (Main Hall)
修繕中でした。Under repair.
唐門 Kara-mon
庭園 Garden
庭の奥にある「半僧坊（はんそうぼう）」に行かなかったのを後悔……。石段を登った先には、天狗の像が並んでいて、山上からは鎌倉の街並みと相模湾を一望できるそうです。
I regret not visiting Hansōbō, a sub-temple located deeper within the garden. It’s said that after climbing a stone staircase, you’ll find a row of Tengu (mythical goblin-like beings) statues and a breathtaking view of Kamakura city and Sagami Bay from the mountaintop.
